2024 Shanghai Masters ATP Prize Money Points Overview

-

The prize money and points for the 2024 Shanghai Masters, set from October 2nd to 13th, have been announced.

This tournament is the second-to-last ATP Masters 1000 event of the year. It started in 2009 when Nikolay Davydenko surprised everyone by defeating Rafael Nadal with scores of 7-6, 6-3. Tennis greats like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray have won this event multiple times. Djokovic holds the record with four titles.

After a break due to COVID-19 from 2020 to 2022, last year’s event saw Hubert Hurkacz win against Andrey Rublev in the final.

Big Names and Big Prizes:

This year’s player lineup is impressive. Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Djokovic are among those competing in Shanghai. The players will compete for a massive $8,995,555 prize pool. The winner will take home $1,100,000 along with 1000 ranking points.

Fans might think this is one of the most exciting tournaments of the year!

The runner-up won’t leave empty-handed either; they’ll get $585,000 and 650 points. Even those making it to semifinals or quarterfinals stand to gain significantly—$325,000 and $185,000 respectively.

Players outside the Top 10 also have a chance to shine here. Ben Shelton , Lorenzo Musetti , and Felix Auger-Aliassime could boost their rankings by reaching later stages.

Semifinalists earn $325,000 plus 400 points—enough for some to enter Top 10 rankings! Quarterfinalists get $185,000 and 200 points each.

Even losing in the fourth round isn’t too bad; players still receive $101,000 and gain valuable ranking points (100). Making it past early rounds also pays off well: third-round exits earn $59,100 while second-rounders take home $34,500.

First-round losers aren’t left out either—they get $23,350 along with ten ranking points which isn’t common in ATP events below Masters-1000 level.

What do you think about these rewards? Are they fair?
