Carlos Alcaraz admits he hasn’t been at his best during the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.
Playing consistently is key to a tennis player’s success and longevity. The more consistent they are, the better they become, as maintaining high performance in tennis is tough and separates great players from the rest.
Many can play well occasionally, but only a few can do it every match. Alcaraz is one of those rare talents who usually shine.
Despite this, he has ups and downs, even within sets or points. His 2024 Wimbledon journey has shown this: he was amazing against Tommy Paul after the first set and had some trouble with Frances Tiafoe . This year’s campaign isn’t as dazzling as last year’s, but reaching the semi-final is what matters most to him.

Alcaraz’s Perspective:
“Well, we try just to find solutions. For me obviously is gonna be really difficult to play my best tennis every match. There are gonna be some matches where I’m not going to find my best tennis but I have to try to win it. I think what the Big Three did during their careers, they’re not gonna play their best tennis; they are gonna find their good tennis to win those matches.”
Winning even when not playing your best is what makes champions stand out. Alcaraz looks up to how Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer managed this throughout their careers and feels inspired by them.
Fans might think it’s normal for players to have off days sometimes.
“When I’m not playing my best tennis,” Alcaraz said, “I’m going to try to find solutions to be a bit better and beat the opponent. Sometimes it’s going to be difficult to do it, but sometimes I play enough to win those matches.”
What do you think? Can he keep winning even on his bad days?
