Alcaraz: Nadal Will Fight Hard If Fit for Davis Cup

-

Carlos Alcaraz hopes Rafael Nadal can join Team Spain for the Davis Cup in November.

Alcaraz felt sad when Nadal pulled out of the Laver Cup, which started on Friday. He really wanted to see Nadal and Federer together again at that event.

Making his Laver Cup debut, Alcaraz is a big draw for fans in Berlin, Germany.

Even though he’s disappointed about Nadal’s absence, Alcaraz still admires Federer. Meeting Federer was a moment he cherishes deeply.

Busy Schedule Ahead:

Alcaraz has a packed calendar until the season ends. After the Laver Cup, he heads to Beijing for the China Open and then straight to the Shanghai Masters.

He also plans to play in three more tournaments: Paris Masters, ATP Finals, and Davis Cup Knockout Stage. Fans might worry about burnout after his early US Open exit.

Meanwhile, just being fit for the Davis Cup would be huge for Nadal after two years of injuries. David Ferrer mentioned that Nadal is being considered for November’s team if he proves he’s ready.

Alcaraz wants his idol on the team because Ferrer said that if Rafa competes in Malaga, he’d fight with him until the end.

“I heard David say that if Rafa was there, he would go to the death with him.”

The idea of Alcaraz and Nadal playing together for Spain is thrilling but uncertain due to Nadal’s fitness concerns.

Alcaraz looks forward to competing in front of home fans in Malaga and hopes both he and Rafa will be fit by then.

“I hope I’m also physically fit to be able to go to Malaga. It’s something that I’m particularly excited about and I hope Rafa is there too.”

Nadal has won the Davis Cup five times but hasn’t played since 2019 due to injuries (and 2020’s event was canceled). His experience could greatly benefit Team Spain if he’s ready. Having one of tennis’ legends would make it even more special!

What do you think? Will we see them both compete?
