Carlos Alcaraz has big plans for Wimbledon 2024 after losing to Jack Draper at Queen’s Club.
Starting his grass season at the Cinch Championships, Alcaraz managed to beat Francisco Cerundolo in his first match. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a decent start.
Then he faced Draper and things went south . Losing in two sets was tough, especially since he was last year’s champion and had high hopes for this ATP 500 event.
He didn’t go far this time, so he’s changing his approach for the grass season. Wimbledon is a clear goal, but just two matches aren’t enough preparation.

Alcaraz’s New Grass Strategy
Grass feels natural to Alcaraz, yet he needs more matches to get into top form. That’s why he’ll stick around Queen’s Club for a while longer.
“I think the best way to be better on grass is to stay here, practise with players, physically doing good stuff on grass and the movement, really specific things,” said Alcaraz. “In Spain or at my home, we don’t have grass courts or really grass places just to practise. I’m close to Wimbledon, so as soon as I can, I’m going focus on the practising with players.”
Fans might think this new plan shows how serious he is about winning Wimbledon.
After that practice time at Queen’s Club, he’ll likely head over to All England Club where top players will also be practicing soon. This gives him more chances to train with the best of the best.
He might even join one of two exhibition events next week—either at Hurlingham Club or Boodles Challenge—to get some extra match play in before Wimbledon starts.
