Djokovic Not Staying at Olympic Village, Says Serbia Delegation

-

Novak Djokovic is staying somewhere different for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Many athletes have already arrived in Paris, including Serbia’s delegation. The first group from Serbia, like the women’s volleyball team, left Belgrade on Tuesday night.

Swimmers, table tennis players, and judokas from Serbia are set to arrive on Wednesday. In total, 112 Serbian athletes will compete in 15 sports. Among them is Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic won’t stay in the Olympic Village this time.

“We expect Novak to arrive within the next few days, although he will not be staying with us in the Village.”

It’s surprising because three years ago in Tokyo, he lived with other athletes and said it was a unique experience: “I’m enjoying every second, in a place with more than ten thousand athletes, exchanging knowledge .”

But it’s not his first time choosing privacy at the Olympics. In Rio 2016, he stayed only with his coaching team and lost early to Juan Martin del Potro.

What Is Djokovic Doing Differently At the 2024 Paris Olympics?

This will be Djokovic’s fifth Olympic Games. He won a bronze medal for Serbia in 2008 by beating James Blake but didn’t win any medals at his other three Olympics.

This year he’s skipping doubles matches. Some fans think playing mixed doubles at Tokyo hurt his singles performance against Alexander Zverev.

Winning gold is a top goal for Djokovic. Even though he hasn’t won an ATP title this year , many still see him as a favorite at Roland Garros.

After losing at Wimbledon two weeks ago, Djokovic took a break and went back to Montenegro to train and relax. He even tried rowing on the Adriatic Sea! “To get in the zone for @olympics,” he shared on Instagram.

What do you think about Novak’s chances this year?
