Novak Djokovic is “very worried” about his upcoming semifinal match at the 2024 Paris Olympics due to a knee injury.
Two months ago, Djokovic tore a meniscus in his right knee during a French Open match against Francisco Cerundolo. He slipped several times, worsening the injury.
Despite winning that match in five sets, an MRI the next day showed severe damage to his knee. Djokovic withdrew from the tournament and had surgery immediately after.
Djokovic’s Battle with Injury
Defying expectations, Djokovic managed to play at Wimbledon, even reaching the final. Though he lost to Carlos Alcaraz, he showed moments of brilliance despite some sluggish movement. Fans might think he’s unstoppable even when hurt.

At the Olympics, he cruised through initial rounds without any issues. His first real challenge came against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals. The Greek player tested Djokovic’s movement and caused visible pain in his knee during their match.
Wearing a protective brace, Djokovic trailed but fought back from three set points down to win 6-3, 7-6. Afterward, he revealed experiencing intense pain similar to what he felt at Roland Garros.
Djokovic doesn’t know how this new injury happened since he didn’t slip against Tsitsipas. He’s happy with his win but remains concerned about his condition.
“I am very worried,” said Djokovic. “I finished the match and then felt intense pain again.”
“It all resembled Roland Garros where I finished the match but later found out I was injured,” he added. “I’m pleased with the victory but still worried.”
Next up for Djokovic is a semifinal clash with Lorenzo Musetti. Musetti has been in great form lately, reaching both Wimbledon semifinals and Umag finals recently.
