Draper Claims First Tour-Level Title in Stuttgart

-

Jack Draper clinched his first ATP Tour-level title at the 2024 Stuttgart Open by defeating Matteo Berrettini in the final.

Draper has always been a talented player, but injuries often held him back from winning more titles.

Things began to change recently when he reached a final in Sofia last year, though he didn’t win then.

Stuttgart Open Journey:

In Stuttgart, Draper defeated Sebastian Ofner, Marcos Giron, Frances Tiafoe, and Brandon Nakashima to reach the final. Berrettini also had an impressive run, beating Roman Safiullin, Denis Shapovalov, James Duckworth, and Lorenzo Musetti.

The final was intense. The first set saw only one break point which Berrettini converted to win 6-3. In the second set, both players had two break points but couldn’t capitalize on them. A tie-break decided it all and Draper won 7-5.

Fans probably loved this twist as it pushed the match into a third set.

Berrettini had a chance to break in the third set but missed it and then lost his serve right after. Both players held their serves after that without any issues.

Draper finally won 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 to claim his first Tour-level title at Stuttgart Open.

What do you think about Draper’s performance?
