Nick Kyrgios is planning his return after ten months of recovery from wrist surgery.
He had a fantastic breakout season in 2022, even reaching the Wimbledon final. However, since then, he has only played once at last year’s Stuttgart Open.
Kyrgios came back from a knee injury there but hurt his wrist in Mallorca just a week later. Dominic Thiem also injured his wrist in Mallorca, which changed his career forever.
Now, after ten months of recovery from surgery, Kyrgios is preparing for his comeback.

Comeback Plans:
“I’m back in London doing a lot of TV commentary of Wimbledon, which is exciting. But I’m also doing training during these two weeks. I’m trying to have some hits with the players that are here to see where my wrist is at. It’s been 10 months since my surgery so I’ll try to work my way back onto court.”
Fans might think it’s about time he returns to the game.
His return is expected soon at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in New York during the final week of August. After that, he’ll join the ATP Tour again. He plans to start with doubles before moving on to singles matches, showing he’s being cautious about his comeback.
“I’ll be playing doubles in the next month (on the ATP Tour). It will be exciting. I’ll probably start there and hopefully, if everything is OK, I’ll move to singles and then I’ll see how long I’ll hang around for.”
“I missed competing; I missed hearing the crowd, my fans. Even the people that hate me—I miss them all. I can’t wait to be back.”
Wrist injuries take a long time to heal because tennis players use their wrists so much. That’s why Kyrgios will begin with light tennis before moving on to more intense singles matches.
