Kyrgios Slammed for Misogynist Nonsense by Petkovic

-

Nick Kyrgios stirred up trouble with his recent social media posts, drawing criticism from Andrea Petkovic.

Kyrgios worked as a commentator for ESPN during the US Open, sparking mixed reactions among fans about his performance.

Some viewers loved his unique insights, while others found him dull and over-praised.

However, a portion of the audience felt he shouldn’t be on ESPN at all due to his history of controversial remarks. Kyrgios often seeks attention with his bold social media opinions. For example, he was very vocal against Jannik Sinner after news broke about Sinner’s two positive tests for clostebol. Even though Sinner was cleared and avoided a ban, Kyrgios disagreed with this decision.

Controversial Opinions:

The ATP title holder believes Sinner should have faced a two-year ban regardless of whether he knew about the substance in his body. Despite these harsh views, Sinner was still open to being interviewed by Kyrgios at the US Open.

Before the US Open final, more drama unfolded when Kyrgios made headlines again. He used to date Anna Kalinskaya, who is now dating Sinner. An old picture of him and Kalinskaya resurfaced online, and Kyrgios replied with “second serve,” which many saw as a misogynistic jab at Kalinskaya.

Andrea Petkovic was one of the few analysts who openly criticized Kyrgios for this behavior. On her Substack blog, she expressed sadness over his antics on social media and how they tarnish his television work.

“Nick Kyrgios on X. His escapades on there make me sad (and angry but mostly sad). He could be truly fantastic on TV but he keeps self-sabotaging with misogynist nonsense.”

Fans might think that if only Nick could focus more on tennis commentary rather than causing online drama!

Petkovic also commented on how people won’t believe Nick’s praise for women’s tennis if he continues to belittle women online.

“Nick says good things about women’s tennis on air but if he disparages them online, at one point people will stop believing him on air too.”

Many fans enjoy Petkovic’s sharp analysis and wish that Kyrgios would take her advice seriously instead of stirring up controversy online.

What do you think? Should Nick focus more on giving insightful commentary or continue being outspoken online?
