Murray Ready to Risk for Final Wimbledon Play

-

Andy Murray wants to play his last Wimbledon in the next two weeks, even if it risks his health.

He had surgery after retiring at Queen’s Club two weeks ago, and British media reported he withdrew from Wimbledon after his medical details leaked. This made his camp very angry, especially his mom Judy, who called out The Telegraph for the leak and confirmed he hadn’t withdrawn.

Murray is recovering in London and said he’ll decide at the last minute whether to play . Every day until July 1st matters for him as he aims to compete before retiring.

Health Risks:

At 37, Murray knows playing could worsen his back problems that have troubled him for years. He admitted he’s not moving well on the court but hopes a couple of days will improve things.

> “There’s risks associated with what I’m trying to do and I’m willing to take that to try and play. We’ll see what happens. I need to be able to move properly, which I can’t yet, so let’s see in 48 hours or so. I don’t know. Tough to know how it’s going to progress, really.”

Fans might think it’s brave but risky for him to continue playing under these conditions.

Murray plans to compete in both singles and doubles. He got a wild card for doubles with his brother Jamie Murray and will face Tomas Machac from Czech Republic in singles on Tuesday.

If he can’t recover in time for singles, he has a few extra days before starting doubles matches. Time is tight though, so it’ll be interesting if he can push through and play.

What do you think? Should Murray risk it all or focus on recovery?
