Musetti Criticizes Paris Olympic Crowd After Booing Incident

-

Lorenzo Musetti faced boos from the French crowd at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

While Gael Monfils was preparing for their first-round match, Musetti was still playing in Croatia. He had just finished a tough final against Francisco Cerundolo in Umag, losing late on Saturday night. With little time to rest, he rushed to Paris for his next challenge against Monfils.

Despite the tight schedule and exhaustion, Musetti won comfortably against Monfils. However, what really bothered him were the boos from the crowd when he stepped onto the court.

French Crowd Reaction:

The French fans are known for their passionate support of local players like Monfils. Although it’s common to see them cheering loudly, Musetti felt disrespected by their boos. “I didn’t like all those boos when I entered the pitch,” he said. “These are things I don’t like because I like healthy values such as respect.”

Fans might think it’s unfair how hostile crowds can be toward visiting players. But remember, Italian fans can be rowdy too when supporting their own in Rome.

Musetti felt that winning was the best way to respond to such treatment. “After the victory then, I pointed to the emblem of Italy to make it clear that we are also there and want to win,” he shared proudly.

Despite his brave words, Musetti knows that more boos might come if he faces another French player soon. He’s been playing exceptionally well lately and is definitely a player worth watching closely.

What do you think about crowds booing players? Do you think it’s fair or not?
