Rublev Discusses On-Court Explosions

-

Andrey Rublev has faced some tough moments on the tennis court.

He’s known for being cheerful off the court, but during matches, he often appears very different.

Rublev’s intense and explosive behavior is well-known, and it’s something he wishes to change.

Rublev’s Mental Struggles:

His anger issues became so notorious that they overshadowed his talent. Sometimes, he’d lose his temper just a few games into a match. This frustration had deeper roots beyond tennis.

Recently, Rublev shared that he was dealing with mental health problems affecting his game. At the 2024 Canadian Open in Montreal, after defeating World No. 1 Jannik Sinner despite a leg problem, he admitted to battling depression.

“Mentally I was out of order,” Rublev confessed. “I guess it was already long moment of everything, and I start to burn out because I was struggling for many years with depression.”

“I guess this year it’s when I couldn’t handle it anymore,” he continued. “It start to explode more and more on the court because in life I was able to stay calm.”

Fans might feel relieved knowing he’s addressing these issues.

Rublev has shown improvement recently; his outbursts are less frequent though still present. This emotional side is part of who he is as a player.

His tennis game has improved significantly compared to earlier months, indicating some relief from his struggles.

However, it’s an ongoing journey for him to mature further as a player. Like Daniil Medvedev, who also deals with occasional outbursts and finds them distracting, Rublev needs focus to avoid losing matches due to frustration.

He’s doing better now but still has room for growth—essential for his career’s success.

What do you think about Rublev’s progress?
