Andrey Rublev talked about his recent emotional outburst at Wimbledon.
He lost in the first round to Francisco Comesana, making him the first Top 10 seed to exit early.
But what really got people talking was his meltdown during the match.
Rublev was down 1-3 in the third set and serving at 30-40 when he mishit a backhand, leading to a double break. He couldn’t hold back his frustration and smashed his racket against his leg seven times.

Emotional Struggles:
This incident reignited discussions about Rublev’s mental health and whether he should see a sports psychologist. When asked about fans’ concerns, he disagreed with their worries.
Rublev explained that if he could hit his racket on the ground, which is not allowed at Wimbledon, he wouldn’t harm himself. Players face fines for such actions.
“I wouldn’t do it if I was able to hit the racquet on the floor. Because we’re not allowed to hit it on the grass.. so I don’t know.. at that moment I couldn’t take it anymore. I needed to let emotions out. But thanks. Everything is fine.”
Fans might think it’s time for Rublev to get some help managing his anger.
This wasn’t Rublev’s first outburst this year; one even got him disqualified in Dubai. When asked if he’d watched these incidents on video, he said no but emphasized he’s working on improving himself.
“I don’t watch those kind of videos. It’s not only about watching the videos. In general it’s about trying to improve yourself. It’s a process and it takes time.”
What do you think? Should Rublev seek help for his anger issues?
