The ATP has added a new tournament to its 2024 calendar, the Hangzhou Open.
This event will replace the Zhuhai 250 and take place in Hangzhou, a city on China’s East Coast. Scheduled from September 18th to 24th, it falls under the ATP 250 series. The tournament kicks off just a week after the US Open ends and starts the Asian swing along with the Chengdu Open.
Andrey Rublev is thrilled to be part of this event. He’s already won titles in Hong Kong and Madrid this year and can’t wait to play at the Hangzhou Olympics Tennis Centre, which hosted the 2023 Asian Games.
“I’m looking forward to coming back to China and playing in the Hangzhou Open in September. I’m excited to come to the beautiful city of Hangzhou and play in the stadium, which I know hosted the Asian Games last year.”

Other Players Joining:
Holger Rune and Zhizhen Zhang will also compete. Zhang loves Hangzhou; he won gold there during last year’s Asian Games, securing his spot for Paris 2024.
“It was an excellent experience to play at the Hangzhou Olympics Tennis Center in last year’s Asian Games. It has nice facilities and there is a great atmosphere there.”
Fans might think it’s cool that these top players are heading back to China.
World No. 42 isn’t alone in making history for Chinese tennis. Yibing Wu became China’s first ATP titleholder by beating John Isner at Dallas Open.
Wu is eager for a comeback in his hometown after an early exit at last year’s Asian Games due to injury issues that limited him this season.
What do you think about these players returning?
