Rune’s Struggles in China:

In his first match at the Hangzhou Open, Rune faced Yasutaka Uchiyama. Uchiyama is an experienced player who thrives in conditions that favor strong servers. Rune came to China after an early exit at the US Open and wasn’t playing well.

The first set was rough for Rune. He tried to play aggressively but missed many shots while Uchiyama served well. Despite breaking back after losing his serve, Rune lost the set 7-5 due to unforced errors—24 in just 12 games!

Fans might think it’s disappointing to see their favorite player struggle like this.

In the second set, Rune started strong with an early break and led 3-0. However, he lost focus at 3-1 and eventually lost his serve to make it 3-2. He rushed his shots and made more mistakes, leading to another break at 3-3.

Uchiyama took control from there, winning five games in a row to lead from down 0-3 to up 5-3. Rune couldn’t find any inspiration or capitalize on small chances; Uchiyama won the match with scores of 7-5 and 6-4.

Rune’s performance left fans wondering what went wrong again this year. What do you think?
