Sinner’s Coach Avoids Comparing Him to Alcaraz

-

Jannik Sinner‘s coach, Darren Cahill, really likes Carlos Alcaraz‘s tennis skills. Cahill has been a big part of Sinner’s journey to the top spot in tennis rankings. Since joining Sinner in July 2022, he’s helped him improve a lot.

In 2023, Sinner made great progress by winning both the Australian Open and US Open, even surpassing Novak Djokovic to become No. 1 in June. But things got tricky when Sinner tested positive for clostebol at Indian Wells Open in March; this news only came out in August.

Despite being cleared by the International Tennis Integrity Agency, the World Anti-Doping Agency wants to appeal and is pushing for a ban of up to two years . Fans might wonder if this will affect his game. The decision is expected by early 2025.

Pressure on Court:

Sinner will have to play at the ATP Finals with all this stress around him. He’s stayed focused on playing well despite everything going on behind the scenes. He has talked about how important Cahill has been during this tough time; Cahill even traveled more than planned just to support him.

Cahill helps with planning too and hinted that there might be some changes in Sinner’s schedule next year. Meanwhile, Alcaraz remains a tough opponent for Sinner as he beat him three times this season at various tournaments like Indian Wells Open and French Open.

The streak of losses against Alcaraz ended recently at an exhibition match called Six Kings Slam, but it doesn’t count officially because it wasn’t part of an official tournament.

Cahill shared with Gazzetta dello Sport that he enjoys watching matches between Alcaraz and Sinner from the stands because they are always exciting battles. “I have a lot of respect for him,” said Cahill about Alcaraz, adding that if they meet again in Turin’s final, he’ll cheer for Jannik while enjoying their performance.

Daniil Medvedev also weighed in after losing badly to Sinner at Six Kings Slam; he admitted changing his mind about who plays better when they’re both at their best level—now thinking it’s slightly leaning towards Sinner over Alcaraz.

The debate over who’s superior will likely go on as these young players continue building what could be one of tennis history’s greatest rivalries! What do you think?
