Tennis Legend Furious Over Swiatek & Sinner Cases

-

A big doping scandal in tennis has made many players upset about how it’s being handled.

Jannik Sinner tested positive for clostebol, but the news only came out right before the US Open, even though it happened earlier in the year. This delay annoyed a lot of people. The same thing happened with Iga Swiatek; she tested positive in August, but everyone found out only by late November.

Players like Eugenie Bouchard, Nick Kyrgios, and Denis Shapovalov voiced their frustrations . Simona Halep also shared her thoughts since she had been away from the sport for over a year due to similar issues. Fans might think this is all very confusing and unfair.

Richard Gasquet Speaks Out:

Richard Gasquet, who plans to retire after the 2025 Roland Garros, knows what it’s like to be caught up in such controversies. Back in 2009, he faced a positive test for cocaine but managed to prove contamination as the cause. Recently, he talked with La Depeche about his dissatisfaction with how these cases are being handled now.

“What worries me the most is that we don’t really understand how it’s going to happen,” Gasquet said. He was frustrated that everything seemed chaotic and unorganized when it came to revealing information about these cases.

Gasquet criticized the process as “very poorly managed.” He felt that learning about judgments suddenly without prior knowledge wasn’t professional at all. “I think the case is very poorly managed,” he added.

He admitted not knowing much about Sinner’s or Swiatek’s specific situations but was sure they were mishandled: “Anyway, it was poorly managed, poorly fought and poorly done.”

Gasquet also commented on sports justice being run by “amateurs” because of how late information gets out: “There’s a cacophony… That doesn’t sound professional at all.”

What do you think? Should things change?
