The US Open is adding a mixed doubles mini-tournament to its Fan Week.

This year, the fourth Grand Slam event will be held at Flushing Meadows in New York City from August 26th to September 8th. Before the main matches start, Fan Week will run from August 19th to 25th.

During Fan Week, visitors can explore the Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre grounds. Each day of this week promises unique events that coincide with the qualifying rounds.

The tournament’s social media has started counting down to Fan Week, teasing interactive sessions with both current and former players. Fans are excited about these opportunities.

One highlight of Fan Week will be mixed doubles matches featuring exciting pairings. Four teams have been announced so far, and more details about the format are expected soon.

Exciting Pairings Announced:

Nick Kyrgios from Australia will team up with two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka. Despite not playing competitively for over a year due to injuries, Kyrgios is preparing for a return during the North American hardcourt swing in late July.

“Introducing an exciting addition to Fan Week this year: the debut of our competitive mixed doubles tournament! Featuring dynamic duos such as Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios, Aryna Sabalenka and Taylor Fritz, Coco Gauff and Ben Shelton, and Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa.”

Stefanos Tsitsipas will partner with his girlfriend Paula Badosa for this special event. Also joining forces are American friends Coco Gauff and Ben Shelton. The champions of the 2023 Tie Break Tens, Aryna Sabalenka and Taylor Fritz, will compete together again.

Fans might think these pairings make for thrilling matches ahead!

So what do you think? Are you excited about these new changes?
