Stefanos Tsitsipas has struggled at the US Open, and his latest loss is just another disappointment.
This year hasn’t been great for him, even though his stats show he’s won 38 matches. He might end the year with over 50 wins, but it’s clear he isn’t playing at his best.
Tsitsipas is capable of winning more than 60 matches a year if everything goes right for him. He won the ATP Finals in 2019 and looked like a future Grand Slam contender . However, he hasn’t maintained that level.
Current Struggles:
In recent years, Tsitsipas reached two finals but has since fallen short of that performance. This year seems particularly bad because of some poor showings on the court.

His latest defeat at the US Open was a match he could have easily won before, but this time victory seemed far away. Even Tsitsipas knows this isn’t his best form.
He admitted openly after his loss that he’s not the player he once was: “I’m nothing compared to the player I was before. I remember myself playing when I was younger, playing with adrenaline on the court, feeling like my life depends on the match.”
Fans might think he’s lost some of his spark and consistency.
It’s hard to say what exactly went wrong for him because even Tsitsipas doesn’t seem to know. If he did, he’d likely fix it: “I remember my concentration used to be at its highest…and that’s something that I felt has dropped a little bit.”
He also shared how much joy tennis brought him when he played with hunger and passion: “And I’m not a person that feels alright or settles for normal stuff…I really want to regenerate it and bring it back.”
Tsitsipas recently made a big decision by parting ways with his father as coach—a move many thought would never happen. This shows he’s serious about trying new things to improve.
Despite these efforts, nothing has worked so far: “I really don’t know why it has dropped…one to two years I’ve been feeling that way.”
What do you think? Can Tsitsipas find his old form again?
