Zverev Confirms Participation in 2024 South America Golden Swing

-

Alexander Zverev had a great 2024, but his 2025 schedule will look different.

After confirming he’ll play in two South American tournaments next year, Zverev is now focused on the North American hard-court season. He recently came back from the Olympics, where he lost to Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinals.

Zverev mentioned that staying at the Olympic Village was tough and it might have affected his Roland-Garros performance.

Upcoming Tournaments:

Starting his North American tour at the National Bank Open in Montreal, Zverev beat Holger Rune in the round of 16. Sadly, he couldn’t keep up the momentum and lost to Sebastian Korda in three sets: 6-7, 6-1, 4-6.

Fans might think this loss was just a minor setback for him. Now he’s preparing for the Cincinnati Open as the No. 3 seed and gets a bye in the first round.

The tennis calendar is brutal; players have to be smart about their schedules because it runs almost all year long. So any changes are carefully planned. That’s why it’s interesting that Zverev will play in South America after the Australian Open next year.

In February, he’ll compete at two events: The Argentina Open (ATP-250) from February 8 to 16 has already announced his participation and started selling tickets. He’ll also play at an ATP-500 event in Rio de Janeiro.

“You know we only work with new things around here, right? And for the 11th edition it couldn’t be any different: Alexander Zverev is confirmed to debut on our courts next year! See you soon, @AlexZverev,” said a social media post from Rio’s tournament organizers.

Carlos Alcaraz usually draws big crowds at these South American tournaments but will switch to playing an indoor event in Rotterdam instead next year—a big loss for both events there.

However, Zverev’s participation will help fill that gap since many top players skip these clay events before Indian Wells and Miami tournaments. South American fans are known for creating unique atmospheres; they deserve strong player fields like this one.

What do you think about Zverev’s new schedule?
